Green Anacondas Aggressive?

zoolady Feb 16, 2004 08:36 PM

I'm not sure why, but I keep reading things stating that Greens are agressive snakes. Wether in the wild or captive. But in all theese pics of them in captivity they seem so docile. And my 6'4" Green is a sweetheart as well. Granted she was a nasty biter for the first week I had her. But she was also shipped to me by a dealer who had caught her in the wild. So she had never been handled before and a huge pair of human hands picking her up and my strange unknown smells of course would scare any wild animal! But she calmed down after a week of working with her and has been a sweetheart ever since. I have read only one message on here stating that someone owned "nippy" Greens. Otehr than that...anyone? It just seems to me there are more docile than agressive Captives than are given credit for.

How long was yours when you got it as a wild caught? How long have you had it? Regards.

She was 4ft. She's now 6'4" I've had her 10 1/2 months now. and the first 9 months she had refused to eat. I force fed her a few times to keep weight on her which is how she managed to grow at all. Just a month 1/2 ago she started eating on her own though which grew her the last 4inches.

I'm not sure if mine is wild caught or not. It has dispelled tape worms several times in its water. I'm told therefore it is probably wild caught (contrary to the seller). Anyway, just to let you know, I treated my anaconda with Droncit, and have not seen any tapeworms since. Two dosages are supposed to kill them permanently. Regards.

Well, I am taking mine in for a vet health check today and will have them test for any parasites. So if she does I will find out today.
