Find yourself a water dragon...they only get maybe 3 feet long but require a lot more time to tame down.
I don't think you'll find any actually iguanas that are 2 feet long...you may find basilisks or water dragons but they are only cousins.

Check out the Desert Iguana...Dipsosaurus dorsalis...They're brown, not green, and native to the desert southwest, but they only get about 12-14" long, are vegetarian, and fairly calm, gentle lizards...
Also, you could look into a Chuckwalla, Sauromalus obesus sp., another vegetarian iguanid from the desert that usually stays under 2' long and has a gentle personality...
