Hi If you still have the blown bulb you can find out what the wattage was. If you look at the top of the bulb there should be small print. In that print should be the wattage number.
Hope that helps.

I use Zoo Med basking bulbs in my 10 gallon tanks, a 50 watt gets to about 84 degrees, the other is 75 watt and gets 84-90 degrees. I do know that a regular 100 watt bulb gets to at least 110 degrees, so there may not be much differance between a basking bulb and a regular bulb, I think a 60 watt should be ideal.

I believe the red bulbs I buy from Home Depot are 40 watts. They work well for me. Also One thing I've learned is that the reds hold their color longer than green. Hope this helps, Jim

It is totally gonna depend on the ambient air temp in your house. IF you are starting with a 75 degree room it is gonna be totally different than if you have a 62 degree room. Do yourself and your snake a favor and get a couple accurate thermometers. Put one where the snake will lay under the bulb. The other on the cold side.
You can use a household light bulb for heat as long as it is off at night. That is why uth are so handy. You don't have to turn them off at night.
