my wife and i left for a week and came back to find our male leo with a laceration where his tail meets his torso just above his testes near his anus. when i noticed it after returning home, it did have a slight smell to it. probably the beginning stepes of infection. however, i have been able to clean it with warm water and i have been placing neosporin on the wound. the smell has gone away, but the wound does not appear to be healing. i'm not even sure how it happened as my geckos are 3 years old and have been in the same enclosure the entire time without problem. i know that 99.99% of you will tell me to take it to a vet. however, he does not appear to be weak or declining in health as he is every bit as squirmy and fiesty as before. i was wondering if anybody has experienced anything like this and has a suggestion. i will take the animal into the vet if he does not heal very soon or if it appears he is doing worse. i wanted to first know if anybody else has experience or another suggestion.
thanks!!!!
