Sexing mice?

paradisio Feb 17, 2004 01:27 PM

I picked up some mice today... I have been trying to sex them without much luck, I have seen pictures and this doesn't look like one I have seen, they have a big pink buldge by the anus... I tries to get pictures but they always over expose... Are these already pregnant or something? I thought testicles first but I lifted them up and they were still out so I don't know

If they have large bulges beneath their anus, then they are males.

crud, what should I do with the extra guy? They were housed together at the store with no problem... I only wanted one colony for now.

I don't have CO2 or anything yet or a snake -_-

I would kill and freeze him. They won't fight until they hit maturity and or establish a group of girls. It may take longer to establish breeding too if the boys are fighting.

Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with the software.

Decided just to move him to a spare 5 gallon, Ill throw in a girl for him tomorrow...

Besides gaining weight is there any other way to tell if a mice is pregnant?

the male tends to leave her alone once he has done his job. Other than that I can't tell if they are pregnant till at least half term.
