I know this is not the question to ask to a group of crazy leo fans (myself being included in such labeling), but I am thinking about getting another leo and want to be sure of a few things.
I currently have one female (3.5 years old) and one male (2.5 years old) in seperate cages. The cages are the 28 qt sterilite containers with a cobra heat mat on one side. I am planning on making a shelf to hold both cages that will double as a bedside/couchside table. I could make it a three cage rack, but did not know if i need to. As my new girlfriend is starting to enjoy taking care of the leos and finding them very interesting I wanted to buy her one as a gift. Instead of going through all the craziness of another cage, etc., I was thinking of putting another female in with my current female and that is where my questions arise.
My female was my first leo and holds a favorite spot in my heart - so I do not want her to be hurt or killed. So, my first question is just a general "Is this a good idea?" Are there any risks of females killing one another? Is it ok to put another female in with my current female when she has lived alone for 3 years or more? I know it would have to be a female of similar size, but does it have to also be a similar age? Finally, can you mix morphs as tank mates? That is, can I house a jungle or tangerine with her (my current female is a high-yellow or normal I plan on posting pics for everyone to let me know what they think she is). Thank you!
