It's the SNOWMAN!!! (Demon's new snow corn)

DemonFrog Feb 17, 2004 03:54 PM

This is snowman, he is my new snow corn of course and because i am not good with coming up with names for cornsnakes this is his new name, to me he kinda looks like he has a bit of motley in him because of the longer spots near the head but i could and prolly am wrong, he has that kind of white all over his body whick makes it hard to get a good pic, the white seems to be at the edges of his scales n such. anyway just thought you micht want to see.

Very nice Snow. He kind of looks frosted to me in that pic. Frosted corns have the white on their scales like you mentioned. Unfortunately I don't know much else about them.

You can tell if he's motley by holding him up near a light and examining his belly. Even snows will have belly checks if they aren't motley. The checks will be kinda weird clearish-pink squares. If his belly looks like its all white then he is a motley.

Congrats!

Ok so he is not a motley but about the frosted, he seems to have white at the trailing edge of each scale (excluding the belly scales) and this "frosting" is present till about his tail region where it fades away, he's really quite neat and more docile now than he was before (he has his reasons) anyway thanks for teaching me how to tell motley from normal and thanks for the compliments all

No problem...when I first got into corns I got kinda ripped off because I paid more for a pair of pastel ghosts that I thought were motley. I read the Corn Snake Manual but somehow missed the part about motleys having both elongated saddles AND a white belly. When someone finally told me, I sure felt like a dummy. It's okay though...I love my ghosts, and you don't see a lot of pastels locally.

Sorry I can't tell you for sure about the frosting. I am starting to get some experience but I haven't seen a frosted corn in person. To me it seems to be more common in snows than other morphs. I think Don from South Mountain sells frosted snows. Maybe his site has some pics or info on them.
