It may be due to an upcoming shed or retained skin on the toepads' lamellae. Check the humidity levels. It should be between 50-85% RH depending upon species. To loosen the shedding skin, you can put the day gecko in a deli cup with moist vermiculite or a wet washcloth/paper towel. Keep at a warm temperature & wait 20-30 minutes. If there is visible skin being shed, you can carefully remove it with tweezers. Be extremely careful as toepads can be damaged. If it doesn't remove easily, try the above method again & if still a problem, a vet should be able to help.
