JUST A QUICK QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!

03svtcobra Feb 17, 2004 05:54 PM

as of now i have a female rainbow boa thats about 4 months old. i plan on buying a male rainbow boa in april from PM HERPS. i was wondering if it is ok to house the female and male in a 75 gallon tank together. the male will be about 2 months old when i buy him,

i just want to know if it would be big enough and if they would get along,

also, has anyone dealt with pm herps? are they a good place to get a snake from?

steve

Steve,
. Paul at PM Herps is one of the good guys in the herp business. He bought Gary Lorio's breeding collection of BRBs. Gary has been well known for producing some of the very best BRBs for several years. Are you sure you are getting 2 month old BRBs in April? Most BRBs born in the USA are born from April to September. Very few of them are born this early in the year. Some people say that you should not house snakes together. I keep my BRBs two to a cage most of the year. You should keep any new snake, especially a boid in quarantine for at least a few months. If you do keep snakes in the same cage you may not be able to tell which one shed and if one is sick it can pass it to the other and if one pukes or passes a messy stool you may not be able which one of them it was. BRBs should always be seperated during feeding. They will try to eat the same rodent and can and will swallow each other when trying to swallow the same rodent.

i understand what you are saying jeff. the guy from pm herps told me the snake would be 2 months old. i emailed him on aol and asked him if he's gonna have any at the white plains show..

i'm gonna keep them seperated for about a month or 2 before i introduce them together.. i just wanted to make sure they wont kill eachother.

i am now really excited about getting a snake from pm herps.. thanks everyone for their help

I love that snake. I think PM Herps has a really good rep. Did it get bred?
