Tongs.com has a ball-tip 6 Pcs. for $44.95. So would think $15.00 is a very reasonable price. Probably the main thing would be the size of the probes. Just make sure they come in sizes that you need. Please bear in mind that I just got my first probe set today from a friend of mine so Im no expert.

Yes $15 is a good price for this set, but the 2 smallest probes are not actually ball-tip. It's VERY difficult to machine ball tips on small diameter probes. In addition to this set, my original set of 5 probes is from Furmont Diversified, a company in Texas. These are the finest probes ever made, and I paid $80 for this set in 1980. They are over $100 nowadays. These are very finely machined ball-tip including the smallest probe. No other manufacturer sells a smaller ball-tip. I use this and the next smallest probe far more often than the other 3 probes, but then I sex a lot of small snakes.

At any rate, it's not so much the probe as it is the prober, as you must have a STEADY hand when doing the procedure. It doesn't matter how good the probe is if you are not very careful and delicate.

So yes $15 is a relative bargain!
