I just started trying to breed mealies. I have about 500 on ground oatmeal and this substrate stuff i got from timberline fisheries. I feed my mealies potatoe slices, and next week, i'll switch to apples for varity. My leos love these new mealworms more then the unfed ones. I seperate the aliens and put them in their own box, and i have like 4 beetles now and 20 aliens, i get more each day. I dont know much else about eggs and hatching and stuff. But i knowthat the warmer the temperature the faster the progress in the lifecycle. I hope this helps, although it didnt really answer many questions. Good luck.

since you were nice enough to answer my leo question, I'll answer yours. keep your worms on wheat bran It's the best thing I've found for best breeding. It only takes the aliens a few days to turn into beatles. The eggs I'm not sure, but I think it takes them a week to two weeks to hatch, but when they hatch YOU CAN TELL!! You pull back the bran and it looks like an avalanche from so many of them crawling around. you can also feed them lettuce.
BE SURE TO SEPARATE THE WORMS FROM THE BEATLES WHEN THEY HATCH!! The beatles will eat the baby worms.
I hope this helps!!
good luck!!
