My male enjoying his new cage..

Snakebyt Feb 17, 2004 07:26 PM

His new cage just happens to be occupied by 3 female carrot tails from Kelli at HISS. Looks like he will be happy there.. for a few days at least.

Okay, I have basically 2 breeding projects going at once, but I house all my females together. This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've heard or been told to introduce the male into the females enclosure. Since I want to be sure who pairs off, can I move the male and female into a vacant tank with good results, or would the introduction into unfamiliar surroundings ruin the "mood"??

Hi

You would just have to give them an adjustment time to there new surrondings.

Well, none of my leos seem to be the same. What is a decent amount of time? An hour, a day, a week?? Of course once my rack is done the females will be in their own enclosure, and I'll have to find something new to live in the 90 gallon (I think, I change my mind all the time)...

Hi

Well since you said that all of your leo's are different, that would depend on the one's you stuck into that take as to how long it would take them to settle in.

I would say that once they stop going around and around in that tank exploring it and start to relax by laying around and acting content, then you got it.

LOL, then maybe I got it all wrong! My "new" male RJ... (the one that I've thought for the past year was a female named Nannar), just goes into the first availible hide when he's put into a new tank. I thought if they hide and didn't come out they were scared.... I only have one that paces the tanks, and thats my golden hypo male Sigma.
