Everyone's thoughts on incubators?? Have you used Hova-Bator?

rujonesin Feb 17, 2004 08:17 PM

What are your opinions on using a Hova-Bator incubator for bearded dragons eggs. What kind of container did you use to place the eggs in and how many clutches of eggs could you comfortably fit inside? I am considering building one out of a small refridgerator but a hova-bator would be a lot easier.

I just started using a Hovabator and it works well for me. As for how many clutches you can put in it I don't know for sure but I guesstimate around 4 comfortably(20-26 per). Again, i'm not positive though, as i've never had that many clutches at one time.

Just make sure you get a rheostat and set get the temperature perfect before the eggs are even ready to go in. It should take some hours to get it just right and safe for the eggs.
If you skip this procedure your eggs will burn. very important.

After that your set to go.

I used to use the hovabator incubators until I built a larger (freezer) incubator. I used 4 of the square gladware containers per incubator and could fit 2 clutches per incubator. I did have 100% hatch rates while using the hovabators, so the temps and humidity were good enough.

Hope this helps answer some of your questions.
