Is anyone on this forum able to order mice from Jackson labs. Or know how private individuals can do so. I want to purchase a particular strain that is not carried by the othe major lab animal suppliers, such as charles river, taconic, harlan etc. etc.

can't say I know how to do this myself, but I suggest sending an email to Jackson Labs and inquire how you can go about ordering mice from them. I am sure they will explain all their requirements to you.

A private individual can't buy mice from Jackson Labs. Heck, even the EMPLOYEES can't have their OWN PET mice, as part of their employee contract. (I've corresponded with several employees of Jackson Labs regarding some unusual mice I raise)
I do know someone who bred a very special genetic mutation and offered it to Jackson, they did ask him "what do you want for it?" and I'm guessing that he could have asked for a breeding pair or colony of any of the normal inbred strains they had in stock if he had wanted to. As it was he only asked them "Please let me know what you find out about this mouse" as the only stipulation.
