Howdy!I saw some ringnecks on here and was wondering if they live in central,Louisiana?We live by the woods...I have a rough green snake already and i love the insect diet!

Yeah they should be there, the Mississippi Ringneck is native there. I don't know if that's the only SSP though. You do know that Ringnecks may not like the insect diet? Unless you count worms as an insect. Some specimens will take crickets, but I have never witnessed it.

D.p.stictogenys (the Mississippi Ringneck) is the only species known to occur in Louisiana. You might want to pick up a copy of THE AMPHIBIANS AND REPTILES OF LOUISIANA by Dundee/Rossman(Louisiana State University Press). It will give you information and range maps. They list food as earthworms, salamanders and small lizards.

My stictogenys only fed on ground skinks and occasionally on earthworms. Both of them actually. Made feeding easily. I could never get a picture though as they would spook quite easily when feeding. There's a pic or two on my Herps of Houston Identification site.
