I think that rats would be much better because they're bigger and all... but then again, mice seem to be so much more eagerly taken.. I really am in a quandry and need to know thoughts fof some of the more experienced breeders on this forum... thank you so much for answering...
Bink...

There was a study done that suggested it doesn't make a big difference whether you feed an adult bp adult mice or adult rats. However, pinky rats (or mice, gerbils, etc.) are mostly fat and adult mice and rats have more protein and calcium than pinkies, so adult prey items are more nutritious. If you are trying to fatten up a bp, fatty pinkies and hoppers are the way to go, or alternating adult mice with rat pups if the snake will take both.
thanks for all your help......

Glad to try to help. Hope it's useful.
I recommend rats if your snake will take them. They are larger and will make things much easier by providing for less frequent feedings and ease in putting weight on a potential breeding female. I have two females that only take mice and I WISH they would take rats instead.
Also, if you're keeping live food for you snakes, then rats are the better choice as mice stink significantly more than rats... this is the truth!
