Over 50 Genetically Proven Mutations!!!! Help me if you think you can!!!>>>>

Euclid Feb 18, 2004 03:42 AM

First off...Thank you to all breeders, big and small, for the AMAZING art you all of created throughout only the last 10-15 years with ball pythons. I have created a list of all the mutations I have been able to find. There are sooo many different names for some morphs it is very confusing, and out of boredom and insomnia I'm trying to get it all organized. I would GREATLY appreciate your input, as I admittedly am not familiar with many of these. My list is composed from the websites of Ralph Davis Reptiles, The Snake Keeper, Bob Clark, Graziani Reptiles, NERD, Peter Kahl Reptiles, and others...

Thanks!
Jeremy

Stonewashed is a pastel gene so co-dom
not sure about the others though
You could e-mail the guy at arbreptiles.com and ask him because that is where i got that list.

The lesser platinums seem to be the het form of platinums...making them co-dom. But the Platinum genetics, combined with the Phantom have created Leucistics for Ralph, yet the genetics are unsure of as of this time. Regardless his Platinum has produced Platinums, Lesser Platinums, and Leucistics. Hope this helps...

Okay...I tried studying Ralph's site, and I got really confused. Let me try to get this straight....

Platinum is a combination of the Co-Dominant Lesser Platinum Mutation and another homozygous recessive trait...probably Leucistic? or Ghost?

So if you take The Platinum X Normal you get:
Lesser Platinum
Het. for ?
Normal

And then take the Lesser Platinum X Lesser Platinum you get:
Super Lesser Platinum
Lesser Platinum
Normal

And you also take Het. for ? X Het. for ? and should get:
Homo. ?
Normal

And to recreate the grandfather you take Super Lesser Platinum X Homo ? and should get:
PLATINUM?

And it may be possible to breed Platinum X Platinum and get:
SUPER PLATINUM

I'm dizzy and don't really know if this makes sense or not. Matter of fact, I think I'm just spewing out nonsense. I wish Ralph would come help me out....

I'm not sure if this has been proven yet.

you have three errors I have noticed.
First granties....rick elvin produced granites about two years ago from granite to granite. So ralphs isnt the only line out there that is genetic.
I know of three other people who have proven theirs out.
Second, butterscotch ghosts have eben recesseive as long as I can remember.
Thirdly, Coffe Balls are not genetic according to the sutherlands strain.

Thanks Mike. I don't know if I should repost the list, but I've made the corrections on the list on my computer. I moved Butterscotch Ghost to recessive. If granite to granite produced granites, does that make it a recessive gene also? And I have Coffee Ball in the unproven list, so I just left it there. Did you mean perhaps that Coffee has been proven by the Sutherlands?

Regardless, thank you for your input.

Jeremy
