Information on Exportation

sdi Feb 18, 2004 08:45 AM

I am considering sending some boas to Europe and would like the necessary information that is to be considered for shipping. Any information on paperwork, fees, procedures,...etc is welcome from people/companies with experience in exporting. Thankyou for your time.

The first thing you must do is get an import/export liscense, this costs $50.00 per year. Here is a phone number of someone who can help you get that started if you choose to. Her name is Vicki Britton - (505) 248-7891. She covers the Western states, but if you are elsewhere she can provide you with a number.

Then, you have to apply for cites papers for the animals, that costs $25.00. Here is the form and directions on filling it out. Form

That usually takes about 6 weeks or so, then you are ready to send the shipment, I use a Broker in Dallas to take care of the rest, Their name is Coppersmith, Inc. This link will take you to their site and list of their locations. You ship to them, then they do the inspections, ship the the country and any paperwork. If you are near LA or Dallas or any other port of entry/exit you can do it yourself, its just a bit more work. Anyhow, hope this helps.
