What should I do?

pspguy Feb 18, 2004 09:37 AM

Okay, I have my 2 tokay geckos Osiris and Roxy. At this point I'm not very interested in them. They only seem to hide behind the stuff I have in my tank, the male doesn't call, they just seem boring to me. I know some would say the leos are boring, all they do is sleep, but I don't know, I love my leos, they are great, and I'm just not into the tokays I guess. Should I keep them, will they grow on me? Should I try to trade them for something else??

Well... you just described the behavior of 90% of reptiles. Have you tried watching them hunt at night? That might change your opinion.

"The serpent crams itself with animal life that is often warm and vibrant, to prolong an existence in which we detect no joy and no emotion. It reveals the depth to which evolution can sink when it takes the downward path and strips animals to the irreducible minimum able to perpetuate a predatory life in its naked horror."

Tokay's are not very active at all in the light or in a small tank. They like alot of room. I had a pair one time that were in a 6 foot tall by 2.5 foot cage and they were very active some nights, sometimes in the spring the male would bark. I had a male loose in the house once he was a very voracious creature would come out when I fed the leos just in case a cricket got loose. I never could catch him as far as I know he is still there with the new owners. Probally has gave them quite a surprize a time or two.
