Metal Racks from Home Depot, Lowes etc etc..

genaroleon Feb 18, 2004 10:34 AM

You all know what metal racks im speaking of....if not just look at the picture (ignor the tanks.. i was experimenting a loooong while ago) I have been looking for these type of metal racks that are longer.. currently the ones i have are maby only 12x48. I like these racks due to the fact they hold so much weight per shelf ... Im wanting to build larger tanks for my snakes but am having a hard time locating larger shelves.. i have found some from a manufacturer called "metro" and some shelves callled super erecta shelf.. but they are $400+ for a 4 or 5 tier shelf... i only paid like 50 bucks for these smaller 6 tier shelves... does anyone know of a good place for some larger shelves??

I don't remember how long they are, maybe four feet, but Sams Club in Tallahassee has them for $69.

Purchased at Cosco for 59.99. They come with 8 shelves, which I broke up into 2 parts, as the set only comes with enough sides to make 2 sections. They hold all my large cages, wood or 80-100gal tanks. Here's an old pic I dug up that shows part of one. Only one I could find, as i usually crop that part out in pics.. heh

The model I have is the super heavy duty one that weighs a metric ton while in the box. lol. I actually sprained my wrist helping carry it into the house. lol Anyway, it says it can handle 1200lbs of weight. The one I have is black and grey powder coated, not the thinner grey metal model.

I just bought a shelf from Home Depot that is 100% hard plastic, big, about 3.5 ft long, 1.5 ft wide, and about 6' tall. It has 5 shelves including the top one. It was only about $35.00. What I like is its all plastic, no rust. The shelves are "ventilated" - have rectangular holes, but that's OK for me.
Its a pretty good deal for the money. I think its a new product.
