Can anyone give me some info on these guys? I might be looking into getting one but would definatly want to do my homework first... I have heard that they hibernate for a VERY long time... apx. 5 months... Is that true? What else should i know about these tegus?

I don't know about the long hibernation...Mine has not hibernated at all; she's out sunning or climbing around every day. The one thing I can tell you is that they are FAST little lizards. And the can and do climb. Mine is somewhat of an escape artist. She gets crickets, giant meal worms and occasional ground turkey. with supplemented calcium and vitamins. I have tried her on fruit and she is not interested. The generally stay at or about 20" from what I can discover. Females have white bellies and rust color under the tail. Males I believe are all rust underneath.

There is a site with some info on them; about the only site I found when I first got her. Ill try to add a link, but if it doesn't work, go to www.dovesoft.com.
