my poor baby

ReptiKH24 Feb 18, 2004 12:02 PM

my little 6 month old leo was bit by one of its clutchmates on the head. I was shocked to see that its left eye was blind, i almost broke down in tears. He/She also has a minor cut on its lip thats healing well. It always has its left eye closed. The good thing is its eating well. Just want to share if any one has had the same experience of a blind leo caused by fighting. I should have seperated them, it was a stupid mistake on my part. Thats why i feel so sad for the little guy.

i am so sorry!!! your gecko should adjust just fine to only having one eye. if you havent had it to the vet already i would take him as to make sure their is no infection in the blind eye or behind it (which could cause other problems)
just make sure he is eating, keep a close eye on him.. and if he has troubles eating you might have to put him in a smaller enclosure just for eating purposes until he gets the hang of his one eye (the smaller area help because the bugs can run as far away)... if he is eating just fine dont bother moving him, the less stress the better.
again i am sorry but he should adjust to only one eye and should be fine granted he has no underlieing infection in or round his eye
