Concerned! Growing way too fast?

ebubbles0o0 Feb 18, 2004 02:16 PM

Ok, so I've had my 2 res for about 3 years now and they keep getting bigger and bigger. I have no problem with that, except that I heard it was bad for them to grow soo fast (they are 5/6inches at 3 yrs.). I looked at past messages and someone else noted a problem that mine are having - it looks as if the edges of their shells are jagged and jut out too far... like the shells are too big for their body. Also, the connections between the "pieces" of their shells are not very smooth. So, I guess I'm trying to figure out if they're too big for their age, and if they are, how should I chance their feeding? Thanks in advance!!

They are about 2 years ahead of a normal growing rate. I would tell you to change your feeding schedule, but you didn't say what it was. I would feed them every other day or 2-3 times a week with pellets and daily fresh green or aquatic plants. The pellet feedings should be no more than the amount the size of their head.
