Acclamating new geckos

stickyfingers Feb 18, 2004 03:23 PM

I just recieved two new geckos a large male and young adult female I first put the male in his own enclosure and than I put the female in my large cage with my other female. i sat and watched the two females for awile. than the new female walk over to my other female, who is only about 10 grams bigger, my older female than lunged at the new gecko. I immediatly put my old gecko i another cage. My question is how should i go about introducin the three geckos. The way they are now they can see each other through the glass is this a good way of introducing them. How should i do this I have a lage cage and plenty of hides and food.

thanks

Hey there,

Well, the first the thing i would suggest you to do...is to quarantine both the female and the male that you got. It does not matter how reputable is the breeder, you should always quarantine them, although most likely they are fine. Once, the quarantine period is over, you can introduce this new females with the others by just putting her there, if u notice that they dont get along to well (if they hurt each other) you can try separating her for a little while. Hopefully this helps you.
