not looking good

aligoonbaba Jun 09, 2003 11:02 AM

my little buddy isn't looking good. it's been a week and he's hardly eating. i've been trying to hand feed him, he eats one cricket and he's done. he's goign into the vet today, he looks so so skinny. i read about a baby food method. im going to try this and see what happens. i really hope he pulls through. he's only about 5 weeks. =( we'll see.

don't forget to make sure he is well hydrated, check his basking temps etc. Keep us posted on the vet visit and I hope for the best.

Well I never made it to the vet. Came home from a job interview this morning about 11 and the little guy had passed. It's my first dragon and a really crappy feeling. I really like these guys though so I think im goign to go for an older one. He didn't look good since the day I brought him home about a week ago. trying to locate the breeder but I dont think I will be able to. I appreciate all the info you guys have given me in the last week. Thanks again.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Since you did indicate it wasn't too healthy since you brought him home, it may not have been doing well with the breeder. Could be a virus (adenovirus perhaps, if you run a search on this forum, should be able to come up with a thread that gave a link to an artical about this disease) or could just have been something genetic.

I hope your second beardie is much more healthier so you won't go through this again.
