I recently purchased a dumerils boa. I was told that they stay between 4.5-5 ft. From what I am reading this does not seem to be true? Can anyone out there who has one shed some light on this issue. Thank you!

Generally they do stay smaller than colombians.
There is a bloodline out there - many animals - that only reach 5 ft or so and max out there.. they breed well and live healthy normal lives..
Then there are also animals that get bigger..
I had a female that was almost 9 feet long, heavy and the biggest by far I have ever seen or even heard of!
That was very rare..
My male was 4' long and hadn't grown in 2 years!
Well, i'm sure many people have other experiences, but generally they will max out at about 5-6'

It's a bit variable unfortunately. I have a pair of 99's that have been fed moderately and the female is roughly 5' long now and the male a bit over 4' long. They probably still have some growing to do, but I don't expect a whole lot more. I have seen a pair of 7 footers, so it IS possible for them to reach the same size as the typical Colombian redtail (Bci) and some do get larger. I would also not recommend they be fed as heavily as Bci as they do not grow as quickly and are prone to obesity when fed heavily. For the first couple of years or so, I fed my pair every 10-14 days, then I spread it out to every 2-3 weeks (which is still their current schedule). In my experience, these guys will typically eat as much as you give them, so it's up to the keeper to regulate their weight as they have no willpower. lol
