Anoles fighting simultaneously in two different locations

muckmouse Feb 18, 2004 09:48 PM

I am working at a small nature center that has had two anoles since before Christmas. They have not been territorial until today, when they began fighting so violently that they had to be separated. Not an hour later a woman called the nature center wanting advice because her anoles had started fighting and had to be separated.

Does anyone know if this is just a coincidence or because it is almost spring or if maybe the anoles were all juveniles just reaching maturity?

Thank you!

Probably a combination of Spring and emerging adulthood. They are probably both males.
