There have been many, many recent postings concerning misrepresentation of boas. This has been going on for years and is never going to change. How many people out there who own "red-tailed boas" actually own a b.c.c.? Not near as people as claim to own one. Pet shops have been doing this for years. Would people rather own a "red-tailed boa" or a "common" Columbian boa? I'm not saying that certain individuals are using terms to try to sell their animals, but they may be. What is important here is that we educate ourselves and the people around us to prevent being taken advantage of. Any snake, painting, car, etc. is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. (And snakes are not inanimate objects!) What is wrong is labelling them as something they are not. I'm not Picasso and I'm not Barry Miller. I'm not claiming to be, and I will never claim to have "jungle" boas or "arabesque" boas unless they are the real deal. If only everyone out there would do the same. It will never happen. "People are strange." It's that simple. The damage has been done. Misidentified animals are among us. We can only do our best to prevent more of this. And if anyone actually took the time to read my three cents (I'm tired of everyone's two cents), here is a pic of one of my kids. A true, untainted, ordinary (yeah right!) and simply stunning Argentine (b.c.occidentalis)! Hope you enjoy.
P.S. There may be hostile postings and schenanigans galore in this forum, but you have no idea how nice it is to know that there are actually other reptile lovers out there who can be articualte and who hopefully share other traits with me (i.e. a full set of teeth, IQs higher than their left shoes, don't walk their children to school because they are in the same grade, etc...).
