All of you with problems with your substrate...

don't overlook the shelf liner. I just switched Spud's cage and I am in the process of switching Fuego's cage to the DUCK brand shelf liner from Wal Mart and it is great. Super easy to clean, looks great. No more sifting sand that you know is still filthy until you do a total change. Just sweep up and wipe up and you are done. If you are happy with your substrate great, but if you aren't like I was I would try the shelf liner.

Also, on a "cute" note. I was worried about her sleeping on the plain liner so I put I washcloth in and she sleeps on it like a bed. It is soooo cute. I am also in the process of paper towel training her and so far so good. She has only gone on the paper towel. The "boy" however is being a little more stubborn !

Here's the most recent picture of Fuego (want to make sure he gets the same amount of forum time or I'll have sibling rivalry!

I have to agree with you. The Duck brand shelf liner is the best! I recently switched over to it and it's so easy to clean and much more hygenic. I haven't tried paper towel training yet. In fact, I forgot all about it! It was so easy wiping clean the shelf liner it wasn't a big deal. But imagine if I can get my beardie paper towel trained! I don't know what can make it more easier??? I'm going to throw a folded paper towel in their tonight for the morning and see what happens. He tends to relieve himself daily like clockwork. I guess he's just regular.

I got the idea from CheriS. You look and see where they generally go and then place a folded paper towel in that spot. Spud has been perfect, but Fuego likes to hang his @ss off the basking branch and let it fall to the ground, so there is a little less accuracy.

I have learned all I have to do is put a plate of greens in the cage and they quickly make their mess on the plate. Unfortunately with the greens still there. AAAAHHHH!!!!!
