Feeding Fish

Hi, I was curious about feeding my Tegus fish. Are there any types that are toxic (I'm talking about bait fish not pet store fish). I understand that they can carry parasites so can i freeze them to kill off all bacteria and will this work for things like frogs, salamanders, snails and earth worms?( they will be collected from areas not treated with pesticides)
