Hey i hope i get welcomed into this "hots society" with a warm welcome and not a harsh reprecution. i just purchsed a copperhead and i am trying to find a great website to point me in a good direction the first time. As this is my first hot i want to do it all right. i have found several websites but the give me a run around on temps substrate cageing requirements heat and all the other goodies, But i will tell what i have as of know. I have a 29 gallon glass aqurium, i have a basking spot of 87, and it fades out into 73 on the cool side. I keep it about 73 degres at night, I have a water dish in there along with a hiding spots, and i have him on repti bark. I was also wondering about putting a water fall in with him is this a good idea? i will appreciate any help i may get. Thanks in advance rob

Hi Rob.
I have a southern and I keep the hottest part of the cage at 80-82 degrees and the coolest at 70 degrees. Anything warmer than that and he soaks himself in the water bowl all the time, anything cooler and he won't eat but does just fine when I keep the temps right where they are. He spends all his time at the cool end until he goes into shed mode and then he likes the warm end and I increase the heat a few degrees at this time. They also seem to enjoy a box of damp sphagnum moss.
What subspecies is yours?
Good luck.
Vic.
