i know some kid who's sister has a sulcata tortoise.
it's about 1 1/2 or 2 years old and lives in a 1o gallon tank.
it has a bit of calcium diffiency.
and they offered it to me for free with a heat lamp.
they barely ever remember to turn on the heat lamp the kid told me and his sister can't take care of it.
should i take care of it?

If you want to.
In those situations the tortoise is probably stunted but that is not reversible. If it is alive and eating... go for it(again, if you want to). Don't get into the habit of 'saving' animals. There is no way you are going to 'save' them all. But if you are looking for another sulcata... You can always pass it along if you need to.

it is about 5 inches, is it safe to put it in with sullivan a 2 1/2 inch sulcata?
here are my housing options:
1.puting her in a 50 gallon with a russian that is about the same size as her.
2.puting her in a 30 gallon with sullivan
3. or in a 20 gallon by her self.

the owner assured my she doesn't have parasites so it would be safe to put the torts together.i was just wondering because of the size of it and how small sullivan is.

*i'll post a picture of the tort when i get it.

You really have to weigh how much you could stand loosing what you have to pick up a 'free' tortoise. Also, it doesn't sound like you are really set up to take in another tortoise. Why not try and help find a home for the tortoise?

I don't think I would trust people who can't even remember to turn on a heat lamp to evaluate whether or not the tortoise has parasites. See if there is a local reptiel or tortoise rescue that would be willing to take him in and adopt him out. Another sulcata is a BIG (no pun intended) committment, so if you are doing out of guilt (which they should feel not you) over the tortoise not because you want another one I would help him out by finding him a new home.

If you take this animal in it should go to the vet for a check up and be quarantined fore a minimum of three months. I would not house it in the same room as your other herps during this time. IMO
