Gold dust and lined gecko crossbreeding?

TheGreenMan Feb 09, 2003 05:29 PM

Does any one know if Gold dust day geckos (Phelsuma laticauda) and lined day geckos (Phelsums lineata) can cross breed? One guy I meet at a show said they could but I have not been able to find any info. I have a male gold dust and a female lined in a tank together and they get along fine but there has been no intrest yet. So any info?.

NO - they do no interbreed. If by chance they did we would tell you not to do so.

Why do keepers insist on keeping different species of day geckos together when every expert out there advises not to? We make those recommendations for a reason -- day geckos are territorial -- eventually one or the other day gecko will end up disadvantaged.

Rethink your set-up. Why not set up two seperate great vivariums?
