Incubator...room.

EmberBall Jun 09, 2003 12:11 PM

I only have one clutch of Ball eggs incubating right now, my first ever, and have already discovered that the styrofoam incubator is SHORT, and I have had to rearrange the eggs to fit. I may have up to 2 more clutches this year, and am deciding what incubator to buy for the future. Anyone have any large incubators--not home made---that work well, for say up to 10 clutches of ball eggs at a time? I was at the Sutherlands house this weekend, YES IT IS AWESOME, and they use a small room as an incubator. I have a walk-in, under the stairs closet in my snake room, and am seriously considering doing what they did, insulate with styrofoam and use an oil heater and fan. Anyone have any other ideas for 10 or more clutches of eggs.

Dave

Its not an oil heater in the sense you're thinking of (does not burn oil). It is an electric radiator filled with oil. That type of heater plugs into an outlet. Electricity heats the oil inside the radiator.....

I just didn't know if that type of heater was reliable or safe enough to trust with thousands of dollars worth of eggs.
