Beardie decided he was going to lay in his hide all day. Should I be worried?

wideglide Feb 19, 2004 04:42 PM

My big beardie hasn't eaten anything all day and has been laying in his hide for most of it, I think. He's not sleeping, just laying there. He has good color, no wrinkles in the skin and hasn't lost any weight despite his appetite being less than it was a couple months ago. He's about 8 months old, 18" and 372 grams as of last night.

I can tell you I set the air a little cooler today since the temps outside have began to rise so it was somewhat cooler in my apt.

Do you think he might be at the verge of brumation or maybe just having a bad day? Shoule I just wait a couple days and see what happens. I'm just worried since I haven't seen him do this before.

Thanks for your help!!

not only do BDs notice a temperature change in their enviornment but they feel barometric changes, cold fronts, rain... check your local forcast and see if there is a front of some type moving in.

Taking these things into consideration I guess I'll not worry about it at this point and see how things play out.

Thanks again for your help!

Once he warmed up a bit he started moving around then ate like a pig. I think he's just fine and was messin' with me, or probably actually acting on instinct, but that's not as fun so I'll go with just messin' with me .

hurt his feelings some how, say something unkind, that made him sad, So sad he did not want to get up today?

But then, he perked up when you took him out and put him on your chest, and gave him some lovin ?????? LMAO

The night before I had ordered a pizza to be delivered and while I had him out and was giving him water the pizza guy knocked on the door. Right in the middle of giving him water I had to put him back in his cage and pay for the pizza. Immediately after I payed I went back to him to finish giving him a drink and he was all dark and I could tell he was mad! He wouldn't look at me or nothin'! Well, he wouldn't finish drinking at all that night and I tried 3 different times.

So of course I had to give him a superworm and he wouldn't even eat that!! Man was he PO'd!
