Supplementation Thoughts

tc_legacy Feb 19, 2004 06:29 PM

Hi,

What do you all leo enthusiats use for supplements? One source I read said that a pure calcium supplement should be used on a regular basis and then maybe once a week you can use a calcium/D3 supplement. What about Leopard Gecko Dust by T-Rex? Anyone use that? The info on the bottle says it contains calcium/phosphorus and vitamins/minerals. Is it really wise to supplement continually with those combos? I'd understood that phosphorus should not be added to a gecko's diet because most herps tend to be calcium deficient but high on the phosphorus. Thoughts?

As far as my limited knowledge goes, all herps need calcium and phosporous in a proper ratio, I use t-rex and I know people who have used it for a while no prob

I use it as the only supplement I provide my leos. The Leopard gecko dust contains no phosphorus. Reason is that insects already contain it. The combination of nutrients in a supplement is not as imortant as the ratios that they are present in. I feel that the t-rex supps. have ratios of nutrients that benefit our herps more than any other supp. available commercially.

The Leopard Gecko Dust doesn't contain phosphorus? Oh ok, I guess I read the label wrong.

Thanks for your input.
