UPDATE!!!

dazz Feb 20, 2004 07:25 AM

Hello to you! It has been a week now since my collared got his wormer from the vet and he is still not eating anything at the moment by himself and i am still having to force feed and syringe feed him..(which can be a bit of a neusance as he wont open his mouth). He is still really underweight but i have bought a little cheap pair of scales so i can monitor his weight.
I cant see any improvement in his body condition but he is a bit more livley and bright eyed and when i do eventually get his mouth open to feed him he does look like he wants to eat! is is possible that he i more used to getting fed this way and thats why he doesnt chase has food? just sort of get the felling that i am merley just maintaining him with no improvments...

I had a wild caught male like that, I had to open his mouth everyday for months and shove down bugs or worms.

Thought he would never eat himself. I had my days of feeling like you, am I just sustaining him.

Would he just starve, if I did not do it? My answer to myself was MAYBE, just keep doing it. So I did.

But one day as I threw in a few superworms for the girls who live with that wc male, he ran over and ate 2

It takes patience, but thats great hes more active and brighter looking, hopfully the appetite will return soon.

Is he still getting the panacur? I have heard this no appetite, while treating with panacur, from so many bearded dragon keepers also.

Guess ya just have to keep helping him out, and hope for the best ! Have you told your Vet, he has no appetite?

Well mybe i should just keep up what im doing with him, surley he has to eat on his own at some stage? i have a funny felling he is a wild caught one though! as it is very hard to find c/b collareds in the uk. I weighed him tonight and he has put on 7grams since last week so now he is only a megre 23grams put putting the weight on so thats better than losing it.

Oh and for the panacur he omly had one dose.

If hes gaining, even at tiny amounts your right, its sure better than losing it !

Your also probably right about having a wc, they are alot tougher to get going than a cb.

Thats why they recommend people go for the cb's they are much healthier, usually do not carry the parasite load that wc's do.

And like I told you, about about my wc male, well I have had quite a few wc's and they all take time to acclimate.

And most need to be force feed. Until they decide to eat, IF they do !

I'm pretty RELENTLESS though, I never give them the opportunity to starve, I ram those worms and stuff right down.

They either choose to eat evenually, or PUT UP WITH ME !!! Hhhehhehehehe ! Good luck with your little friend Darren
