Need information!!! Taking a trip to Las Vegas in March. Also Northwestern AZ and the Mojave area of California

trisnake Feb 20, 2004 08:56 AM

I will be in Las Vegas from March 13th through March 20th and hope to be able to do a few herping trips during the day while I am there, weather permitting. Since the temps have a tendency to get up to the high 70's and possibly low 80's during that time of March, can anyone tell me the probability of seeing any herps during the day. I will settle for seeing anything but would mostly like to see snakes. Also, since I will be making my day trips from L.V. can anyone tell me where I may want to be looking that would be less than 2 hours driving time from there?

I appreciate anyones input.

Chris

Chris (Woodcock)????
This is a true story that happened to me. It was around midnight, myself, a friend and his wife were walking down the strip. In front of us was a group of Asians standing in a circle blocking the sidewalk. This was right across the street from New York New York. We thought there was a fight or something but when we got there I looked and saw an albino cal-king just sitting there. I asked if it belonged to anybody and they said NO WAY!!! I reached down and picked it up and took her back to my hotel. Not only did I find a snake on the strip, it was an albino, lol!!!! I figured it was someones escaped pet since there was a reptile show at the Tropicana Hotel which is why I was there in the first place. I asked around several vendors if anyone mentioned losing a snake but no luck. I took the snake back to Wisconsin and then shipped it a friend in Lake Tahoe, CA. That was Tim Rainwaters only show and my only trip to Vegas. I know this didn't help with your question but thought I'd share my story. So Chris are they having a Fire Fighters convention or are you just visiting on vacation? Last time I saw you was at the Expo in Orlando the last year it was there. Ron

Is this the Ron who used to have Garter snakes and monitors? I forget your last name. I have not seen you in a few years if you are the Ron I am thinking of.

Ron,

NoI am not working with Garter snakes anymore. I am not working with any snakes anymore. I got divorced a year ago this April (a good thing) and sold everything I had before I left. I won't be working with snakes again for a while. I want to buy a house before I ever do the breeding thing again.

I remembered you were getting ready to move. That was over 3 years ago.

Take care,

Chris
