Where are those Mt. Meru Jackson's?

BigChappy Feb 20, 2004 09:43 AM

Looking through the classifieds and various breeder websites I found a lacking of a beautiful jacksonii subspecies, c. j. merumontana. I have not found any captive bred ones, only a few WCs that are being imported. Is no one working with this species anymore? I know Ed and Liddy Kammer used to offer captive bred specimens, but they don't even list them on their website anymore. In my opinion, merus are probably the most beautiful subspecies of jacksons chameleons and should be conserved in captivity, but that's just my two cents. Just trying to start a thread here and find out where all the Mt. Merus went.

I agree with you about meru's being one of the most beautiful Jacksons subspecies/chameleons in general. They Are definately one of my most favourites. They are, however, one of the hardest species to breed in captivity. Many chameleon "experts" have tried and failed to breed them. I am trying to work with them myself, but have yet to succeed. There is one guy called Jason that succeeded in breeding them in captivity, but i can't quite remember his contact information. If i stumble upon it, i will let you know.
