If its not letting you type stuff in, you may have to click the "new" icon on the top left, I think its under "file" or something. I'll check it out when I get home to see exactly where its at. Once you get used to it, its pretty helpful software.

I just downloaded the software this morning so I haven't had very long to work with it but I "believe" you have to add all your NEW animals to the data base...then highlight the name of the critter you entered and then select the "Records" tab and then enter the data. For some reason I also could not get it to allow me to add the weight data when entering a "new" animal but I think going the other way will accomplish the same thing?

Let me know and I'll play with it some more over the next 2 days and see what elese I can uncover. Looks pretty decent for free....I wish I had found this 4 days ago cause I just spent $20 on some Herp software on Ebay (haven't received it yet) but this looks like it would meet all my current needs...so $20 down the drain...again, LOL

Regards,

Lee

Yea once you enter your animals basic data, you have to save it, then highlight that animal and click the box icon for weight records, its a whole new screen. I think the same goes for breeding, feeding, and length records.

I agree....the only thing I found to not be quite up to snuff is the auto feeding pop up....if you use the species selection to trigger this I ended up setting up some extra categories to help maintain the correct time/day intervals for feeding my juvies vs. my adults. I know this isn't a huge deal with Geckos but for my snakes it was needed. My adults eat every 7 days, my sub adults every 5 days and my juvies every 3 days and my breeders are fed every 4 days. The way I got around this was when I added a new species I added the Latin name and then the designator - juvie, i.e. Elaphe guttata guttata - Juvie, Elaphe guttata guttata - Sub-adult, Elaphe guttata guttata - Breeder, Elaphe guttata guttata - Adult and figured once a year after brumation one could easily select the given animals name and simply edit it to the new Elaphe guttata guttata category which would give me an accurate feeding schedule within different age groups.

I would probably set up the Geckos the same way and simply separate them by months or something....1-2 month, 3-4 month....I guess one could also set it up by weight/grams, i.e. Hemitheconyx caudicinctus 0 - 20 grams, Hemitheconyx caudicinctus 21 - 40 grams, Hemitheconyx caudicinctus 41 - 60 grams, Hemitheconyx caudicinctus 60 grams. I guess one could over think this project too LOL

However, if one had over a few dozen animals in their breeding projects or collection I think breaking them up by species/age or weight would be very beneficial in obtaining a realistic feeding schedule and fully utilizing that software.

Funny, I feel the same way..
I donated money to support HCS just to show I appreciated the programmer's efforts, and have not even recieved a thank you.
