Minimum Cage Size Question

Everlight389 Feb 20, 2004 01:27 PM

Well, my Mom descided to restrict me to a cage thats 50''x 24''... which is not "optimum" caging size. However, I recently bought a couple books on Tegus and Monitors, and they all state that you can keep them in cages that are 3x the SVL long and 1 1/2 - 2x the SVL in depth. I think that as long as I can keep temps accurate, I could most likely keep a Blue Tegu in 50x24, but I wanted a couple extra

Hit tab and enter =/

What is the average SVL on a Blue Tegu? I looked at a chart of the Columbians and Argentine and according to my math it SHOULD be about 13-14 inches, but as I've never kept one nor ever actually seen one I need actual information.

Thanks again
