When X-Raying a snake..............

Brian Oakley Feb 20, 2004 05:41 PM

I was wondering, for those of you that have had snakes x-rayed, does the Vet. use a lead blanket of sorts to cover the snake when they take the pic like they do with humans? Not that I need to know, but just something I was discussing with my friend today.

Things that make you go hummmmmmm?!

How is his little dent thingy doing? He looks good there, but of course, I can't see all of him. Yea, with his radiation, you'll probably get some GLOW IN THE DARK Ghosts....or triple hets....or....

He looks perfect now, and is eating up a storm! Just may breed this Fall.

................... to determine if the snake is gravid. She said the radiation affects the maturing embryos.
I'd like to have one of those "field ultrasound kits" I've seen em used on Anacondas in the wild.
The entire system sets down inside a blue box, like those little coolers that holds a six pack !
ANYCHANCE.ANYONE would know where to order one from? or where one is for sell ? Dave @ East TN Reptiles

my buddy and I were tinking the same thing the other day. We were discussing these very sonigram kits. I too wish I knew where to get one, but I heard they are only (like I have the money today...lol) $3500.

I know Vets will not X-Ray gravid snakes. I was just wondering about whether or not they use the lead blankets, not so much as to why they are x-raying to begin with.
