Because Real brooks are almost extinct in the wild. Brooks canal was rumered to have been polluted several years ago by an eco-idiot who turned loose a bunch of gravid "Floridas" in an effort to save them from collecting (by eliminating their distinctiveness). I cannot verify that, but the point is there is heavy intergradiation. If there are any "pure" wild Brooks left, they are way back in Everglades Park and unreachable.
The redefining of Brooks as a color variation left the door open for any "yellow" King to be sold as Brooks (higher price).
