Do your Imitators wake up at night?

shopaholic Feb 20, 2004 10:47 PM

Hi gang: Listen, something kinda strange or at least different is happening in my Imitator Viv. Well, the pair is off on a good start 2 tads in the water, and 2 developing eggs. The Dad has started to wake up at night(after the lights go out)and call. He didn't do this until they started to produce fertile eggs. They are awake during the day as well, but I just wondered about the habitual ritual to call right after lights out. Any explanations? Thanks-Maggie

Maggie,
Mine do the same thing. Maybe the male is telling the female where he is crashing for the night. My vittatus do the same thing.

I don't know about after the lights go out, but one of my patricias will call from his sleeping spot that he made behind a pot (where he shouldn't be). The space is certainly too tight for any mating rituals so I'm not sure why he does it.

Well, I guess he's just telling her that its time for bed and she better come to bed soon. Very strange! Well, my husband does the samething, otherwise I'd be up all night posting on these forums! If you guys think of anything else that it might be, let me know. Thanks-maggie
