Pregnant mouse..

Khalliaar Feb 20, 2004 11:50 PM

That mouse that I had said was showing for about 2 weeks died last night without giving birth. I loved that girl and it got me thinking. Could it be she wasnt' pregnant and it was a sickness making her stomach swell? Or is it most likely she died from complications of the pregnancy?

It could be a lot of things, could even be a very large tumor

I dont' think it would have been a large tumor seeing as how she grew to the golf ball size over a weekend. But, I guess it could be almost anything. All I really know is that now poor little Shysies gone and Cally is alone. I'm going to have to go out and find her a new little friend so she can be happier.

only certain way to know what was wrong, is to bring the body (if it has been refrigetated since death) to a vet for a necropsy...This may cost about $50 depending on teh vet. Or, if you are adventurous, you could disect her yourself to see if she was carrying a litter of babies or if something else was enlarged in her guts. Tumors or abscesses can grow alarmingly fast in some cases as well.

Sorry for your lost.
