Too much moisture in egg container

Piglet106 Feb 21, 2004 09:20 AM

HI there.....I noticed this AM that one of my egg container that is incubating has too much moisture....what can I do to fix this problem.....The temperature was a little warmer in there also, which I am sure is what caused the extra moisture....eggs still look good.....also-how long can the eggs be above 85 degrees before they are ruined....sorry for so many questions.....

Vent it off a bit, sometimes at night when your house is cooler some fogging of the windows happens don't sweat it. As long as the eggs aren't soaking wet it's alright. How far above 85? You never said how you were incubating them, that info would be helpful in how to regulate it better. It usually takes a few days for an incubator to stabalize. I usually set mine up a good week before delivery so that I can work out all this before they come and I don't have to make these adjustments with eggs in there.

The eggs are in tupperwear like containters with holes on top, and are in vermiculite, and then they are in a bigger container with a cup of water for humidity with a 60watt bulb over the big container.....they temp was 87.9.....what happened was the sun was shining on the container....Off to the reptile show here in VA...thanks for the help, and look forward to your next reply...

They should be fine, just try to keep the sun off of them. Have fun at the show.
