I was thinking of getting a leopard tortoise and I wanted to make a natural enclosure. I was thinking of using sand but I am worried about impaction. Has anyone had sucess or problems with a sand substrate?
Thanks to all who reply.

I've used sand with many different reptiles without a problem over many years. I have used it on leopard tortoises but prefer indoor/outdoor carpeting or a more moisture retaining substrate like a sand/soil mix or some kind of mulch. Regardless of what you use be sure to set up a hot/humid hide area.
