Termite Tenting! AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

Anson Feb 21, 2004 12:55 PM

I am being tented for termites on the 29th of this month and am having to move out all my herps for two or three days.
What a chore. Not to mention my 75 gallon fish and turtle tank also.
Lets see that is 70 herps I have to move.
It would have been 80 but I found homes for some of my last month's pet shop rescues (from a store that closed down)

What does not kill us just makes us tired! LOL

Has anyone had this happen to them?

When you come back into the house do you have to take certain precautions with the animals?

Salvador's Cage will be staying because it is huge. The plants and Sal of course will be coming out into a holding cage at my Mother's house.
What precautions do I have to take before he goes into the cage?
According to the termite company I don't even have to rewash my plates or silverware when coming back in because it leaves no residue (unless the item is wet or has water in it) The gas will supposedly dissolve into water?
I don't know whether to trust that or not.
Do I have to wash everything and if so with what type of cleaner?
Will just rinsing do?
Also there goes my free food source. Sorry guys no more termites for you. Ha ha ha ha ha!

Sonia,

I would see what it is that they use. Persoanlly I would scrub the place down before eating, sleeping, living - so, have I made you feel better?? LOL! Seriously, I would do a little checking as to the chemicals, and as we all know many heprs are MUCH more sensitive b/c they absorb so much thru their skin. How about contacting a local herp society?

I remember Sal's cage - BIG, but can you get it inot the shower or someplace to wash down after they gas the place?

I wish you luck in the endeavor! Let us know how you make out ;-/
