Increasing Calcium intake, please help!

thundergibbon Jun 09, 2003 02:59 PM

Hi there,
Apart from dusting and gut loading crickets, does anyone know of any other ways to add calcium to a crested's diet?

Thanks for any help.

Justin

Justin,
For animals that require more calcium such as gravid females just leave a dish of it in the cage 24/7. Do not use reptile supplements as the source as you will be ODing your gecko with the other vitamins that they consist of. I prefer to use bone meal powder. It is safer, more natural, cheaper and easer to digest compared to some other alternatives. Check out any of your local health food or drug stores to find it. You can also use crushed cuttle bone. Your gecko will take it from the dish when it “feels” the need to. Better to let them choose for themselves instead of over dusting . Best of luck.
