help! skin problem!

SittonJ Feb 21, 2004 03:28 PM

I discovered today while cleaning Sadie's cage that she has these orange discolorations on the underside of her tail. The thing is - I can't remember if those have always been there or not. She doesn't let me handle her often, so I don't have much of an opportunity to be looking under her tail. Is this some sort of mite or bacterial infection??? I am hoping not - it has been awhile since I replaced the moss in her humid hide. I've posted a pic sorry for the poor quality - my camera doesn't focus well up close. Can anyone guess what this could be? Is there any treatment I can try to help her? I have betadine which I sometimes use on my snake.

The coloration may be natural, but I'm not 100% sure. A lot of "normal" leopard geckos still have traces of orange on their tails. Since this gecko hardly lets you handle it, you may have not seen it there before? The picture is kinda fuzzy, but the orange is pretty bright.
